The Student Union Art Gallery is exhibiting an eclectic combination of artwork done by local craftsmen.

The Louisiana Master Craftsmen Invitational Exhibit includes new and experienced artists from all across the state.

"In this gallery we like to show the local flair," said Marigny Armand, the gallery research assistant and Union Art Gallery Committee member.

Though the school year has ended for high school trumpet player Joe Kloss of Staunton, he continues to sharpen his skills outside of his high school at SIUE's band camp, one of many music camps held at SIUE during the summer.

Kloss has attended SIUE's band camp for over five years, led by director and music professor Daryl Coan.

SIUE will teach children to make their own jewelry

Instead of spending money at a jewelry store this summer, children can create their own beaded necklaces and bracelets for themselves and family at SIUE's jewelry camp.

Children will be able to learn jewelry making design skills from senior art education major Beth Speer of Hampshire during the camp beginning Monday.

Graduate student Evan Wagman taught the ceramics camp held at SIUE in the week of June 16 and taught the elements of ceramics to the children one on one.

Young boys and girls from grades 6 to 12 arrived at SIUE to learn some crafty skills to better make their clay creations.
