Michael Jenkins II, of Byhalia, competed against more than 20,000 youths nationwide to win the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) T-Shirt competition.

Jenkins, a 17-year old senior at Byhalia High School, signed up for the contest while attending the annual summer youth sports program at Rust College.

"The best part of having an NYSP family is the continual support of my peers, not to mention my opportunity to teach others," Jenkins said.

The design is now the official NYSP logo, and will appear on participant T-Shirts and various NYSP printed material. Jenkins' design is also featured on the cover of the NYSP 2007 calendar.

"It was really unexpected; I just tried to do my best." Jenkins enjoys swimming in his spare time; he plans to attend college this fall and major in pre-law.
